Professionals · FleetsFleet remapping: transport, construction, agriculture
On a fleet, remapping stops being a technical question and becomes an organisational one: when to take a vehicle out, in what order, and how to invoice it. Powerconcept has been working on engines since 1995 in Nivelles, and travels to your site in Belgium and in the neighbouring border regions.
Five, twenty or a hundred vehicles: what changes
A fleet is handled differently from a single vehicle, and not because the work itself differs: developing a map is the same on a lone truck and on the twentieth unit of a fleet. What changes is everything else: which units to treat, in what order, at what point in the year, and how to record what was written to each vehicle.
With five vehicles, everything fits in one visit. We come to your site, start with one vehicle that is representative of the fleet, put it to work for a few days, then treat the others if the result suits you. It is the most honest way to start: you judge on your own usage, not on a demonstration.
At twenty vehicles, the constraint becomes the planning. We work in batches, around your returns to the depot and your quiet periods, and we group vehicles sharing the same engine: a map developed once serves the whole batch, which shortens every following session.
At a hundred vehicles, the question is traceability. Every job is logged: vehicle, ECU part number, version written, date, technician. Each vehicle's factory file stays archived individually, so any unit can be returned to original before a lease end or a resale.
On-site reading, planning, invoicing
On-site reading. A truck, a tractor or an excavator on the move is a day of production lost. So we work at the depot, on the farm or on the construction site, in Belgium and in the neighbouring border regions. Reading the ECU, writing it and taking the check measurements all happen on the spot. The Nivelles workshop stays available for vans, which go on the dyno.
Planning. We build the calendar with your operations team, in batches of identical engines and on your own slots. Some ECUs have to be removed and read on the bench: those need longer downtime, and we identify them before the dates are set rather than after.
Invoicing. One quote for the fleet, broken down per vehicle, stating where the work is carried out. A named invoice and report for each unit treated, which leaves you a record that works for accounting as well as fleet management.
On what a map actually changes, the figures from our database are detailed per segment: trucks and lorries, tractors and agricultural machinery, construction machinery. Each page gives the median of our database for its segment, along with the spread: a mixed fleet does not reduce to a single percentage.
Already tracking your fleet? GPS and telematics tracking is the business of a neighbouring service, Tracker4Fleet, which belongs to the same owners as Powerconcept. The two subjects often come up in the same conversation, without depending on each other.
Frequently asked questions about fleets
Is there a minimum number of vehicles?
No. We are happy to start with one vehicle that is representative of your fleet: you judge on your own usage before committing the rest. The economics of the quote only change from several units upwards, because a map developed once serves a whole batch.
Does the whole fleet have to be taken out at once?
No, and it would be a bad idea. We work in batches, on your slots and in your quiet periods, grouping vehicles that share the same engine. ECUs that have to be removed and read on the bench are identified before the dates are set.
Do you remove AdBlue or the DPF on a professional fleet?
No, never, on the road or off it, whatever the number of vehicles. We do diagnose and repair SCR faults, which take a vehicle off the road far more often than an engine failure.
